Eight million Black people call Atlanta home. A million more are coming for Juneteenth — and in Forsyth County, the last militia in Georgia is coming to meet them, armed by hands it cannot see.

Tre Turner, the boy from Brownwood Park, is now the Black Counterinsurgency’s sharpest blade, protecting a courier named Stardust whose sequins carry the President’s secrets. His sister Keisha walked into the Salon looking for her future — and got taken instead, by men who think she’s someone else.

By dawn, Keisha will keep a promise she made in a dream.
